The Highland Ledaig Distillery is found on the isle of Mull, and is also known as the Tobermory distillery. One of the most picturesque locations for any distillery anywhere in the world. Ledaig is currently the name reserved for the peated whisky runs, and known for an exceptional 'funky' character.
We were fortunate enough to open one of these bottlings by The Boutique-y Whisky Company of a 19 year old Ledaig (Batch 19), and this is classic 'Ledaig funk' - massive peat, massive alcohol over big sherry cask sweetness, fruit and spice.
An incredibly oily and big whisky, with bonfire peat smoke over dried barley malt and rich stewed fruits from the ex-sherry cask.
